Education dissertation topics: a list of topics to avoid
Most students have an idea of what they want to write about when considering an education dissertation. But, in some cases you may want to rethink your choice. There are times certain topics may seem inappropriate, offensive, or too difficult to write about due to lack of information. When you are not sure about your topic selection you can review it with your instructor. The following topics are likely areas you want to avoid to ensure you stick to academic expectations.
- Controversial topics with strong opinions.
There are controversial topics to consider that include real issues that need viable solutions. Then there are those that may be too much to talk about or they may spark outrage. An example may include something along the lines of students engaging in inappropriate activity with their teacher or instructor. More cases like this seem to appear but it is something unfortunate many rather not talk about.
- Offensive topics that cross the line.
Some topics in relation to education may be offensive to someone’s race, sex, or religious beliefs. There are subjects that can be discussed along these lines, but in some cases you need to know when not to take things too far.
- Complex topics you are not willing to thoroughly research.
Education is filled with various subject matters that are interesting to explore when you are interested in the topic. If you have little knowledge, interest, or liking of the subject matter it will make matters worse when you start research. Some topics may not have enough data for you to collect to write a dissertation. This is why it is best to review several ideas beforehand including potential sources and where information would come from.
- Topics with very little information for you to go on.
This can go hand in hand with the previous point. Sometimes students are not willing to put in additional time and effort to collect necessary data. Other times you are not able to collect enough information on the topic to write a detailed paper. You may have known this during the research process but did not think much of it until you got ready to do your paper.
- Topics not related to or have very little to do with education.
Keep your topic selection focused on education to ensure your dissertation is on point. You should also avoid topics that perceive negative images.
